CHAPTER 61: A YOUNG STUDENT OF THEOLOGY

At Mitzi Little's home after a hard day of work:

"Mommy?"

"What is it, Randi?"

"Who made me?"

"Mattel made you, honey."

"And did Mattel make Margaret and Mikey and Aunt Mabel?"

"Yes, he did."

"Did Mattel make everybody?"

"That's what we are taught."

"But...if Mattel made everybody, then who made Mattel?"

"Nobody. Mattel has perpetual existence. Always has been and always will be."

"Like Santa Claus?"

"Well, Santa Claus is...uh...Mattel is...um...I'm sure I'm supposed to know the answer to this. Probably second grade catechism. Tell you what, can I get back to you on it?"

"Okay. Are you gonna look it up on the internet?"

"You know, you are way too smart for a four-year-old.
